Character Makeup, and living Art

I have been working on a lot of make up looks, with my different classes, some light hearted and some with a much deeper meaning. I also have gotten my  Beyond The Clothing  Facebook group up and running, I am working on a YouTube channel, I really don't want to rush it though, I have taken a few classes on it too, I am a little nervous about it.  The look above is my take on the caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland, turning into a butterfly. Below is the white rabbit from the same, these are from a character interpretation makeup class.  The design below is a bit deeper, from my living arts class. It is from a painting, F alse Mirror, Rene Migrette. My interpretation is the false mirror being other people words and opinions forming how I see myself. The side that has super pretty makeup being me taking back control of my thoughts and how self reflection. I think everyone has others voices as part of their inner voice to a point, unfortunate...

Sewing, makeup, & feeling FANCY

This was the last pattern test I did before my braces came off! So a bit of a special spot I guess as well its so fancy feeling.  This is some sewing themed fabric I had mixed with a solid black, for an extra formal feel to me. I am totally gonna hang out in it sewing or whatever but I will will feel fabulous doing it! Reminds me of a post I have seen shared from a singer sewing machine manual from the 50's where you are supposed to clean the house, get dressed up and put on make up before sewing, because you can possibly focus otherwise... how the times have changed right?! I do like to dress up and do my makeup most days though simply because its fun, but my sewing space is not as organized as some would like it to be (mom). However its organized chaos, I mostly know where everything is at all times.  Anyway this top is the new MAZE from  George + Ginger . It comes with several options, I choose the 3/4 sleeve hi low with horse hair braid to give it that extra volume....

Braces are finally gone!

I had my living arts make up class a few days before I had my braces off so my last living arts photos with braces, and it was pop art! It all felt very fitting to me lol.  The left is the day I got my braces put on, almost 3 years ago! I had to have dental surgery and it really delayed everything. I had to be put under and recover took days, then it took like a year to move the tooth into position. So basically forever to me!  The right is right before they took them off, we were gonna take one at the house before we left but it was super early and we forgot. Getting them off wasn't so bad, but they first set of retainers didn't fit and we had to go back that day for a 3rd time, and honestly I was just over it! I was ready to take my chances.  After it was finally done! This was a super long day and not the most fun I have ever had lol. I am so happy to have them off though. It has taken a few days for my mouth to get used to the retainer though and lack of braces. Its s...

The Starry Night

When I saw this pattern and I was a little torn on it, if I would really like it or not once it was sewn up. Elephant house just ran this amazing Masters round and I go this beautiful Starry Night fabric for strikes and I knew I needed to try this pattern out with it. It is a bamboo spandex fabric so its really flowy and drapes beautifully.  I really love how the dress turned out, I think the drape makes the fabric and painting really flow beautifully. Like it really is living art,  I take a living arts makeup class on out school with the amazing Jessica (Iris Imaginoria), a month or so  ago, we did the Starry Night painting which is why I was so excited about this fabric. My little sister lets me occasionally practice on her as well, this was one of the paintings she let me try out on her after class. I have had so much fun with these classes.  I love these classes they are so much fun, and I am learning a lot about different techniques and makeup brands, styles an...

Don't let today be a waste of makeup

I feel like this hoodie is the perfect showcase piece for the direction I want to take this blog, to show off things I make, makeup styles, and travels, the things that make me, well me. I love fashion, makeup, creating beautiful and unique things, I am an Army brat so travel is just life.   This hoodie I made for strikes promo a few weeks ago, it was a new style I hadn't made before. I really love how it turned out. The thumb holes and the black accents really just make it next level for me. I modified it a little cause I wanted a slouchy cowl look.   I had colored my hair 'black' with overtone, its kind of a purple black. I really loved it, was such a drastic change from the colors I have had before but it was a fun one. I was glad it was still dark for this hoodie, the hair and the make up I think worked really well with the colors.  I am still experimenting with different looks and styles of make up but one thing I know for sure, liquid eyeliner is life!

Alyssa meets Steampunk, and falls in love...

Hello again everyone! Today I am going to be showing you the Boudoir Blouse, and the Paradox skirt from the Goth Collection over at  George + Ginger . These are woven patterns so measurements are critical when making them for your self of if you want to order them from me 🙂 These are very well fitted and tailored garments and they are so worth the extra time and expense.  I made this blouse with Crush Bichon Charmeuse, it has a great texture look to it. It was a super fun fabric to work with. The sleeves are a chiffon with a glitter design on it. I thought it would look great with the Brocade I picked out for my skirt.  I used snaps on mine but you could do some really cool vintage looking buttons, or gears for a more steampunk flare to it. The amazing this about this collection is how your fabric and accessory choices can really change the look so easily. I love that!  I was for sure feeling a little more steampunk when deciding my fabrics, colors, accessories and ...
