The Starry Night

When I saw this pattern and I was a little torn on it, if I would really like it or not once it was sewn up. Elephant house just ran this amazing Masters round and I go this beautiful Starry Night fabric for strikes and I knew I needed to try this pattern out with it. It is a bamboo spandex fabric so its really flowy and drapes beautifully.  I really love how the dress turned out, I think the drape makes the fabric and painting really flow beautifully. Like it really is living art,  I take a living arts makeup class on out school with the amazing Jessica (Iris Imaginoria), a month or so  ago, we did the Starry Night painting which is why I was so excited about this fabric. My little sister lets me occasionally practice on her as well, this was one of the paintings she let me try out on her after class. I have had so much fun with these classes.  I love these classes they are so much fun, and I am learning a lot about different techniques and makeup brands, styles an...

This month we celebrate Handbags, wallets, diaper bags and the like!

I wasn't sure I was going to love making bags, and now here I am with a whole month to celebrate the different style and companies.  I love how easy they are to add your own personal flare too, you can change up a couple things and it become a unique one of a kind item.  This post is just a few of the different styles I have made over the last year, I have been working on so many more for this month, they make sure great gifts heading into the holidays.  I can customize with different fabrics, and embroidery a bag just for you, most of the ones shown here and over the month are up for sale on my website , and peeks on  facebook .   The fabric choices can really change the look as can the difference between lycra and woven. Adding in foam and different interfacing for more or less structure. There are just so many ways to change the same pattern up and have them look different while being the same bas...

Elephant House makes me Merry....

I was really excited to get picked for this panel!  It is the perfect blend of angst and adorable! Did you see that elephant?! So cute! This was a design of my own making in a way, I had a vision and mashed a couple patterns together and then completely created the sleeve detail on my own. I am really looking forward to wearing this come the holidays!  I think this might have been the most fun photoshoot because it was mid summer and we were outside in the front of our house with Christmas decorations and running down to use the neighbors trees that line the property for privacy... I can't wait to see what the coming year brings to this amazing company.

Cooking up something delicious with Elephant House

My brother has some big dreams too, he loves to cook and wants to be a Chef. He had this great hat already but he didn't have a coat yet, so of course I made him one when this awesome Ratatouille fabric ran a few months back.  If you have been following my blog than this is a trip down memory lane with me lol, if you are new look I made a Chefs coat! ....also a soho bag and a reusable shopping bag, but the coat was the star of the show this round for me.  This is the little soho I made, I got some vegetable fabric from Walmart to line it and accent the design.  I helped my brother Dean shop for the meals he made in the photoshoot for this round, and it was the perfect time to show off and test out my reusable shopping bag!

Elephant House Fabrics - How I love thee....

Shall we count the ways?  Honestly, if you have not checked out this custom fabric group you are missing out! They are the perfect blend of beautiful general designs, and nerdy fabrics for the whole family. I have yet to find a round I didn't see something in I thought was cute, even if it isn't my fandom, the coordinates tend to sway my heart.  I have sewn up the Cotton Lycra, Swim, Bamboo, and Woven, I love them all, and the woven is so soft! It is the best woven I have ever felt.  Elephant House  is the first time I ever tried bamboo lycra and I have loved it sense, it is such a great fabric for warm weather and the drape is incredible!   Sewing for them has been such a great experience, I have learned so much from the team, and have made some friends. It is always such an awesome experience striking for them, I always walk away from a round feeling valued and appreciated as a strike sewist.

From the beginning, Elephant House Fabrics

I saw a call for a strike off sewist on Elephant House Fabrics, so I applied, I was a little nervous because it was the first time applying for something like this, and THEY PICKED ME!  I have no words for how excited I was! I really wanted to blow them away with what I could do. I was 12, almost 13, I felt like this was a huge opportunity to show case my growing skill set. I wanted them to be glad they picked me.   I am not sure if you know this but they say Harry Potter was born at the Elephant House Cafe . It is a place where JK Rowling wrote much of the first books, it seems fitting to me as a Potterhead that the birth place of my strike off career was born with Elephant House Fabrics.  I threw myself into ideas and I think came up with some cool ideas and let me tell you I used every single tiny scrap of this fabric lol. Looking back on what I made for them, still some of my most favorite pieces. These items and Elephant House  w...
