Holiday Zappas!

A few months ago I made this 'ugly sweater' inspired mix it up peplum. I wanted a Luna meets Mrs. Weasley feel to it. When I was making my first pair of Zappa pants it hit me I needed a really cool velvet and lace pair to wear with it!   Again I went with the flared style using lace this time as the insert. I love them so much they are really comfortable and fun!   I think it compliments the top perfectly and adds a bit of flash and flare to even a plain black top.

This month we celebrate Handbags, wallets, diaper bags and the like!

I wasn't sure I was going to love making bags, and now here I am with a whole month to celebrate the different style and companies.  I love how easy they are to add your own personal flare too, you can change up a couple things and it become a unique one of a kind item.  This post is just a few of the different styles I have made over the last year, I have been working on so many more for this month, they make sure great gifts heading into the holidays.  I can customize with different fabrics, and embroidery a bag just for you, most of the ones shown here and over the month are up for sale on my website , and peeks on  facebook .   The fabric choices can really change the look as can the difference between lycra and woven. Adding in foam and different interfacing for more or less structure. There are just so many ways to change the same pattern up and have them look different while being the same bas...

From the beginning, Elephant House Fabrics

I saw a call for a strike off sewist on Elephant House Fabrics, so I applied, I was a little nervous because it was the first time applying for something like this, and THEY PICKED ME!  I have no words for how excited I was! I really wanted to blow them away with what I could do. I was 12, almost 13, I felt like this was a huge opportunity to show case my growing skill set. I wanted them to be glad they picked me.   I am not sure if you know this but they say Harry Potter was born at the Elephant House Cafe . It is a place where JK Rowling wrote much of the first books, it seems fitting to me as a Potterhead that the birth place of my strike off career was born with Elephant House Fabrics.  I threw myself into ideas and I think came up with some cool ideas and let me tell you I used every single tiny scrap of this fabric lol. Looking back on what I made for them, still some of my most favorite pieces. These items and Elephant House  w...

Epic Harry Potter themed Ugly Sweater Bliss

Retro Stitch  sent me this amazing panel to create something for the current round they have open (closes on the 15th) How I sew strikes is while its on its way to me I come up with a plan to 3 and then it gets here and I come up with another plan, and then while its washing another plan and by the time its dried I typically have settled on what it will become. 🤣  With each round I strike for I try to grow and come up with new ideas, new things to try, and push myself a little bit further. Work on my skill set with my sewing, pattern design, photography style. Always growing! I don't ever want some one to look at me and think 'oh that kid, so its gonna be a basic tee or simple dress.' I want people to see a little bit of my style and personality in everything I make. With strikes often this is the showcase for the fabric, its moment to shine and turn peoples heads to get them to purchase. I want my pieces to make people stop scrolling.   With t...

Football and Harry Potter...

What more could a girl ask for?!   So these glitter stripes from  Lily Rose Market  are intended to be Hufflepuff stripes, however I am not sure how any self respecting Steelers fan could look at them and not smile!  So I brought together two of my favorites and made a  Stella . Now I am ready for both an afternoon watching football, or curled up in a chair with my favorite book.  The glitter print is so perfect because it gives the look and feel of some glam and sparkle with out having to deal with real glitter ending up EVERYWHERE. We all know that glitter is terrible once in the house, it will never leave.  I wore this on NFL draft day, here we come number 7!  EMAIL      WEBSITE      FACEBOOK      INSTAGRAM      TWITTER

A thousand years or more ago,...

When I was newly sewn, There lived four wizards of renown, Whose name are still well-known: Bold Gryffindor from wild moor, Fair Ravlenclaw from glen, Sweet Hufflepuff from valley broad, Shrewd Slytherin from fen. They share a wish, a hope, a dream, They hatched a daring plan, To educate young sorcerers, Thus Hogwarts school began. Now each of these four founders Formed their own house, for each Did value different virtues, In the ones they had to teach. By Gryffindor, the bravest were Prized far beyond the rest; For Ravenclaw, the cleverest Would always be the best; For Hufflepuff, hardworkers were Most worthy of admission; And power-hungry Slytherin Loved those of great ambition. While still alive they did divide Their favourates from the throng, Yet how to pick the worthy ones When they were dead and gone?  'Twas Gryffindor who found the way, He whipped me off his head The founders put some brains in me So I could cho...
