Upcycle sweater into amazing grunge look Teen Spirit

My mom has a history of telling me 'pose like this' and I typically react with 'there is no way this won't look ridiculous', and guess what, it typically does not look ridiculous. Which is both wonderful and really annoying. The above is one of those moments, it is one of my absolute favorites from this round of testing.  There is a little story behind this top. I was given a bunch of clothing from relatives when I started sewing so that I could practice on them, I have had this sweater sitting in a pile for almost 2 years! I knew I liked it but I wasn't sure what I wanted to make with it. During the testing for the new collection from George + Ginger, I made 2 different  Teen Spirits . I loved both of them, they are dolman style and great fits, they both have hoods, then it hit me, THE SWEATER! I knew it would be perfect.  I really lucked out that I was able to use the original neckband, I had to do some alterations to the rest to make it w...

Feeling my 90's vibes here

I am so excited to share so many different things with you all over the next month or so. I am going to be testing some of the most epic patterns and the strikes I just finished up for  Fabriculous  all have the most amazing Grunge/goth 90's feel to them and I am loving it all!   This is the crop version of the  Extra Top  from George + Ginger with 3/4 sleeves. I paired it with a basic black circle skirt that I shorted from a halloween costume I made a year or so ago, with some plaid mesh tights and boots.  I am loving the look of this whole outfit so much. This round and the styling and patterns I choose and the patterns I will be testing, it all just works so well together and has kinda of a moody, teen angst that well, is me.

Hawaiian Princess Banana Pudding

I thought this print would be perfect for my little Hawaii loving Princess sister. This movie has such a special place for us having lived here now, just a different perspective to nature, the islands and the people.  I wanted something that would show off the print really well, and be perfect for the weather here, even in January its warm and sunny most days.  Kaylee is a huge fan of the  Banana Pudding  from candy castle, so I knew it was what this panel needed to be from  Lilyrose Fabrics .

Black & Grey Buffalo Plaid Campfire Set

I think I have mentioned before that I LOVE testing George + Ginger patterns with Kristi because she really wants her patterns and collections to be special, perfect and her vision. This Campfire set is part of  the 2019 Fall Collection . You can also get this pattern by its self, the collection in clouds this amazing set, (Full romper, capri, and stand alone pants, along with a jumper) The October dress, which comes in 3 lengths, and a beautiful extra top, and it is so EXTRA! I am gonna add the line drawings, there are so many options and looks that can be created with this collection. I am so excited about it.   What I mad and am showing you here is the full pant romper, with the optional tie back, I did make a jumper too that I will show in a bit more detail tomorrow.  This fabric is from  Blended Thread Fabrics , they are based out of Canada, but totally worth the extra cost. It was a dream to sew with, a great structure and heavy weigh...
