This request came in while I was working on my April Month of the Military Child plans. The timing was perfect! If you have been following me for long you know that I am a Military brat and that April is a special month for me. It is the month of the Military Child and I try to do some fun things through the month and all sales for the month in the past have been donated to Our Military Kids. This year I have some new ideas and plans, more about that later though 😁
I decided this would be a great time to do a step by step style blog post about the creation of these amazing bears. These bears are made from the uniforms of your loved one, they can be made from other articles of clothing as well of course.
These 3 were made from one uniform, top and pants, that I took about 5 hours to take apart, all of the pockets, zippers, patches, velcro has to come off to make the fabric as flat as possible and get the most useable space. There are a lot of pieces, and no two will look exactly alike because of the way the uniforms are made and the pattern on it.
After the uniforms are apart, I lay out the fabric and get tracing on it all the pieces for the bears, then its a matter of cutting out all the little pieces.
After everything was cut out working with the customer to get the kids favorite colors and confirming the lay out and all the extra little details to make these bears special and exactly what they envision. I sent pictures every step of the way to make sure she was seeing what she had wanted and was happy with the progress.
These are such a personal and special thing to make and I really want them to be perfect for you. There are other animals as well that can be made, the bear is just the most popular option.
This is the first time I have added a clear pocket for a picture or note on the front, and the EST date on the back, names and heart in the ear. Really made these so special for the family, I hope they love them as much as I do :)
Oh and this little spot on the back, it made me so happy cause it looks like a heart and reminded me of a book my Mom got for me and my siblings one of the times Dad deployed Love Spots. (link to the book, I get nothing for directing you to them or sales its just a cute book)
Thank you so much! My kiddos absolutely adore their daddy bears! ❤
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to see the amazing things you have up your sleeve for military child month!
