Candy Castle - Soda Pop Polos & Cappuccino Cardigans

I can not tell you how hard it was to only pick a few polos and cardigans I have made to share with you today. This monkey one was my very first, and then I made my brother a closet full lol

Soda Pop Polo has a lot of great options too including a ruffle, regular, henley collars a long with hood option, short and long sleeve as well.

I was pretty nervous making the placket the first time, and if I am honest the next couple too. This is by far the best placket instructions I have come across, the few times I have tried out other patterns that have them I always end up back here at the Soda Pop.

I live in Hawaii currently so I do not often make a lot of fall clothing, however this cardigan has become a staple here. These above option was made out of bamboo lycra which is the most amazing fabric, it almost always feels cool but yet offers some warmth at the same time. One of my favorite things about this pattern is all the ways it can be worn as well, above right showing it tied up for what could be a bit more dressy, if it wasn't for the Supernatural fabric lol.

The one my mom is showing off here on the right is made out of cotton lycra, the left is also bamboo lycra. I took the smallest size and graded it down in DBP for my sister so she could have one too. They are perfect for having in the car when you head out, the restaurants and businesses here tend to keep the inside so cold!

I have a lot of fabric in stock that would be great as these cardigans if you are interested just shoot me a message, polos as well.

Month of the Military Child GIVEAWAY!!!

This month I decided to create a little gift collection of sorts that you can win by sharing the pinned giveaway post on my Facebook page and commenting on it. Super easy to enter, but a great package I think. I am going to go into a bit more detail below with each of the 4 items in the package. This is the bear, you will be able to choose from the fabric swatches below which you would like it made out of. No two bears will be exactly alike because of the fabric that is being used, some from actual uniforms, and some that is just printed, because of the design there will be some differences. (These bears are listed on the website for sale as well if you wanted to order others) Next we have a super soft toddler/lap size blanket, you can choose either purple, blue, or black. The saying is the same on all 3, 'I am resilient, I am resolute, I am relentless, I am a Military Child', all of them are the same color on the back with tossed dandelions, the official flower of the Militar

My love affair with Candy Castle

I have been thinking about what really set me on this path with confidence and conviction; The Peppermint Swirl . My mom saw this dress and really wanted it for my sister, the pattern was purchased in January and there it sat until march with me avoiding it. I admit I was intimidated. It looked so complicated!  The above picture is the one she finally talked me into making, if you are not familiar with this dress you will not realize I completely screwed it up, it is supposed to have a swirl not ruffle look. Using my moms Facebook at the time I nervously posted in in Candy Castles group, the response was not what I expected.  People LOVED it, they wanted to know how I did it... What?! This mistake started a crazy trend for a hot minute. Something else happened too though, while I had cut it wrong, I made it! I made a really cool dress that Kaylee loved and total strangers were trying to copy! ME! Alyssa Cotter at 12 did that!   I kept making them and th

George + Ginger Rival Dress

This is the pattern of the month for February over at George + Ginger  Which means its on sale! I am a little later in posting this than I had originally planned but still lots of time to run over and pick it up if you love it as much as I do.  This style I am wearing is a sleeveless hooded option. There is also a long, short and 3/4 sleeve, hood, neckband, or cowl neck. All feature the cool pockets on the sides.  This is the pocket detail, normally the line would be cleaner and the top and folded over, but I used a couple of panels I had as the pockets so I served the top instead.  This Fabric is from  Skylove Creations I love the style of this one, that you can use different colors and styles of fabrics to get so many different looks, make it a more fancy, or causal, perfect for work, or like this one Comic Con!
