What is more 90's than Malibu?

One of the first shoots we did for this round was with this dress at a local park. It was the first time I had all the make up on, and my mom said she didn't recognize me! The park was surprisingly busy, of course lol so many looks Our local park still has a working payphone, I have to admit I didn't exactly know how it worked, while I love the 90's era of music and movies, I did not grow up with the phones and electronics.  This is the Malibu from George + Ginger , part of the new collection there. It is a pretty comfortable dress, this is the mini length there is a slightly longer one too and a few people made it into a tank, that is on my list. The cut of this dress, while fairly basic is really fun and easy to dress up or down a bit. I paired it with the updated rave in white for these.  Of course I made these two out of crushed velvet and plaid because I was going for the 90's vibe. This entire collection has become stables in my wardrobe....

There is no Planet B - Space & Science Round

This panel is one of my favorites from the current Space & Science round over at  Royal Pixie . Taking pictures of my sister in her new pj's and she told me she had the perfect pose, and she was right! I loved it!  Kaylee loves the stars, space and reading, so of course I made another reading pillow and several styles of bookmarks. She was a bit bummed when I said they weren't for her to keep.  This planet fabric and the galaxy print both look so great on book marks, they will be a part of our read across America promotion starting later this month.                                                                                                    There are still a few days if you would like ...

Black Sheep Super Sewists

The last few weeks have been a whirl wind! I have been sewing strikes, pattern testing, and having photoshoots pretty much every day for the last 3 weeks.  I have been so fortunate with opportunities these past few weeks to really test limits, try new styles, looks, and work with some amazing people I admire. I have so many exciting this to share this month that I a really proud of.  The first thing I get to share is being picked to work with Becca the owner of  Black Sheep Fabrics , and one of her admins Florence. I admire both of these women so much, the style, and the beauty they bring to this sewing community. I am in awe of them daily. This was a dream come true.  This gorgeous fabric is from the current round at Black Sheep. The super sewists, red and black grunge made this outfit epic! I am so proud of this outfit and look. I love all the details in the design, the art work and representation is breath taking! To make it ...

Feeling my 90's vibes here

I am so excited to share so many different things with you all over the next month or so. I am going to be testing some of the most epic patterns and the strikes I just finished up for  Fabriculous  all have the most amazing Grunge/goth 90's feel to them and I am loving it all!   This is the crop version of the  Extra Top  from George + Ginger with 3/4 sleeves. I paired it with a basic black circle skirt that I shorted from a halloween costume I made a year or so ago, with some plaid mesh tights and boots.  I am loving the look of this whole outfit so much. This round and the styling and patterns I choose and the patterns I will be testing, it all just works so well together and has kinda of a moody, teen angst that well, is me.

Hawaiian Princess Banana Pudding

I thought this print would be perfect for my little Hawaii loving Princess sister. This movie has such a special place for us having lived here now, just a different perspective to nature, the islands and the people.  I wanted something that would show off the print really well, and be perfect for the weather here, even in January its warm and sunny most days.  Kaylee is a huge fan of the  Banana Pudding  from candy castle, so I knew it was what this panel needed to be from  Lilyrose Fabrics .

Let me tell you a Fabriculous story...

Travel with me back to December 2018, I shared a scarf I made into  Fabriculous  custom fabrics, I thought it was really cool and wanted to show it off. Out of no where the owner Mandi commented on it and asked if I had a store, and then shared it to her business page and placed an order! Now this might not have been my first order ever, but I mean she could sew this herself! I shared how exciting that was all over to family and friends 🤣 Flash forward a month, I was getting ready for a little family vacation to a resort here on the island, making a bunch of things to take on the trip, cause thats the way I roll. I get a message from Mandi, offering me some strikes if I was interested, and of course I was!  I got them the day I was leaving for a few and made some pegs right away cause I was so excited, not only strikes and so many of them, but sewing themed! Talk about a dream offer.   I wanted to wow Mandi, because this was a HUGE op...

Kaylee is going to all the amazing places with the Cat in the Hat!

The  So Sweet Sweater  by candy castle with out the sleeves added on is one of my favorite tops for my sister.  Its not exactly short sleeves, but its its perfect for Hawaii winter when its not really cold cold, but breezy.  She loves the cowl, hiding part of her face, more than hoods even I think.  The fabric from  Fabriculous  was perfect for it. I love that even though this is a coordinate it can really stand alone as the focal point as well, I think this pattern demonstrates that really well, with out being a basic boring tee. Kaylee is anything but basic and boring!

Dr. Seuss Reading is my thing Pillow

How could I not make a reading pillow with this fabric?! It kept telling me to make sure I had enough to make one.  I of course added some embroidery to it, but a bit more general because everyone in the house already has a reading pillow and I wanted it to have resale value. I did the lettering myself, the 2 Dr. Seuss themed ones were from  appliqués with character . They happen to have a huge sale going on right now if you are into embroidery or appliqué.  I really like the style of these. How its kinda sketchy, I might have downloaded a few files in this style lol.  This reading pillow is perfect right? The colors compliment each other so well, it would be so cute in a classroom or little ones reading corner!  I am so glad I had enough of this fabric from  Fabriculous  to make this pillow, while I made it with the intent to sell it... I am not sure I can part with it! I could always have two I do have a lot of books ...
